Growing up…

I was continuously surrounded by the arts and creativity. Art was a part of our lives and flowed from the people who were around me. Whether it was my talented cousins effortlessly playing instruments, my aunts and uncles captivating us with their beautiful singing voices, or the mesmerizing poetry recitations that filled our family gatherings, creativity seemed to be woven into the very fabric of our existence.

I learned that it can be an expression of humanity. It was through these artistic outlets that I discovered the power of storytelling, learning how to use creativity as a means to communicate the often complex and intricate complexities of the human experience. As I grew older, my curiosity led me to delve into various artistic disciplines. I painted, danced, sang and played instruments. As I grew older, production, teaching and administration was also added to my artistic toolbox.

Whether it is Music, Dance, Theater or Opera, any artistic medium has one thing that connects them. Expressing the human experience. Past our cultures, language, politics and differences, Stories have the power to unite us and connect us to the human experience we all share. We feel pain, happiness, loneliness. Despair. Joy. Grief. Love.

Bringing light to the human experience through Art and shining light on beauty that connects us and the world around us. Stories that can bring light to the humanity in all of us and to see that we are all created with purpose and dignity.

There is only so much space on a website to write so let’s sit down at the table and tell stories.
